Joseph Otoo

Joseph was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2004 after graduating with a First Class Honours degree. Subsequently he was awarded a Masters degree in International and European Law from the University of Brussels and currently he is studying for an MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution at King’s College, London.
Joseph brings a multi-disciplined and international perspective to his role, and since joining SLS he has worked primarily on construction contract disputes and claims preparation. He has considerable experience of working as an integral member of multi-disciplined teams.
In 2007, Joseph was seconded to work within the disputes team of a multinational French contractor in a multi-party high value London based arbitration arising out of a transport infrastructure project relating to the installation, commissioning and operation of a new telecommunications system under a PFI contract. Subsequently he has assisted in cross border arbitration and related injunction proceedings on behalf of a leading international cladding contractor in addition to several UK based adjudications.
Joseph successfully acted for a UK contractor in High Court proceedings for enforcement of an adjudication decision, which involved several points of law on jurisdiction.
Joseph has experience of both UK and International Standard Forms of Contract, and is familiar with the provisions of the Arbitration Act 1996, UNCITRAL Model Law, the LCIA and ICC arbitration rules.
