Richard joined SLS in 2007 having previously worked with Systech Legal a specialist construction law consultancy. Richard was called to Bar of England & Wales in 2004 after attaining his LL.M in International and European Business Law. He is currently studying for an LL.M in Professional Legal Practice at the Inn's of Court School of Law and undertaking his New York Bar Exams.
Richard undertakes a mix of contract and contentious work. He has recently undertaken a significant degree of work advising on issues arising from the operation of one of the UK’s largest PPP contracts in the transport sector which ranged from procurement, change control systems and variations to interface obligations. Richard also has an extensive knowledge and experience in the practical application of the NEC3 ECC and he was heavily involved in advising a contractor on various issues arising during the New National Stadium - Wembley Project. On the contentious side Richard has considerable Administration/ Insolvency, Adjudication and Mediation experience.
Richard’s key strengths are his excellent drafting and advocacy skills and his ability to give clear, concise and legal - commercial advice. He is equally comfortable working independently or as a team member/leader.
Richard is a member of the Chartered Insitute of Arbitrators and The Honourable Society of Gray's Inn.
Richard completed a tour of duty with The Parachute Regiment in the 2003 Iraq War.
