Ronan was admitted as a solicitor in 1982 (Northern Ireland) and joined SLS from Systech Group where he headed up Systech Legal, a specialist Construction and Engineering Law Consultancy since 1998.
Ronan has considerable experience in commercial litigation having previously been involved in matters reaching the Court of Appeal, House of Lords and the European Court of Justice. With the growth of alternative dispute resolution processes Ronan has frequently acted for parties engaged in multi- party, complex and high value mediations arising from projects as diverse as the construction of nuclear power plant, competition swimming pools, and high-speed railways to transmission relay stations.
He has also advised clients prominent in the buildings, energy, communications, specialist electronics, insolvency, infrastructure and transport sectors and regularly undertakes adjudications, expert determination and conciliation in these sectors. Ronan has acted for clients in several EU countries, the Middle East and Far East.
A member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Society of Construction Law, Ronan regularly delivers seminars and talks on procurement options and advises clients on non-contentious issues commonly arising during the life of projects with a pragmatic and commercial approach.
